Ο Μάνος Λοΐζος ήταν Έλληνας μουσικός, συνθέτης, στιχουργός και τραγουδιστής. Γεννήθηκε στις 22 Οκτωβρίου του 1937 στην Αλεξάνδρεια και πέθανε σε νοσοκομείο στη Μόσχα, στις 17 Σεπτεμβρίου 1982.  Είχε κυπριακή καταγωγή  (ο πατέρας του, Ανδρέας Λοΐζου, καταγόταν και ήταν κάτοικος των Αγιών Βαβατσινιάς -χωριό της Λάρνακας Κύπρου- και η μητέρα του, Δέσποινα Μανάκη, καταγόταν από τη Ρόδο). Το σπίτι στο οποίο έζησε ο πατέρας του υπάρχει ακόμη, η δε Κοινότητα του χωριού θέλοντας να τιμήσει τον μεγάλο αυτό μουσικοσυνθέτη, ανήγειρε στην είσοδο του χωριού ένα σεμνό μνημείο, στη μνήμη του, όπου αναγράφονται τα εξής: "Μάνος Λoΐζος 1937-1982, μουσικοσυνθέτης, καταγωγή Αγίοι Βαβατσινιάς".  Ήταν μέλος του Κομμουνιστικού Κόμματος Ελλάδας και αγωνίστηκε για τα δικαιώματα της εργατικής τάξης. Τα τραγούδια του λιτά και έντεχνα, συνδέθηκαν άμεσα με τις λαϊκές μάζες. Πολιτικά στρατευμένος καλλιτέχνης στα χρόνια της Χούντας και της μεταπολίτευσης, ακολούθησε την ποιότητα στο ελληνικό τραγούδι που χάραξαν ο Μίκης Θεοδωράκης και ο Μάνος Χατζιδάκις.

 

Manos Loizos was a Greek musician, composer, lyricist and singer. Born on October 22, 1937 in Alexandria and died in hospital in Moscow on September 17, 1982. He Cypriot origin [1] (his father, Andrew Loizou, came and was a resident of the Holy Vavatsinias [2]-village Larnaca Cyprus, and his mother, Rosemary Manaki, came from Rhode Island). The house in which his father lived there yet, and the village community wanting to honor this great composer, erected at the entrance to a modest monument to his memory, showing that "Manos Loizos 1937-1982, composer , originating in San Vavatsinias. He was a member of the Communist Party and fought for the rights of the working class. The songs of simple and sophisticated, connected directly to the masses. Political militant artist in the years of the junta and the junta, followed by the quality in the Greek song that drew, Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hatzidakis.

Peter Tosh, born Winston Hubert McIntosh (19 October[ 1944 – 11 September 1987) was a reggae musician who was a core member of The Wailers who then went on to have a successful solo career as well as being a trailblazer for the Rastafari movement.  Peter Tosh was born in Petersfield, Jamaica with a father and mother too young to take care of him.
